Port San Antonio is a master-planned, 1,900 acre aerospace, industrial complex and international logistics platform, centrally located in San Antonio, Texas. Created from the former Kelly Air Force Base, Port San Antonio is approximately equidistant from the East and West coasts of the United States and at the center of the NAFTA Corridor between Mexico and Canada. The entire development enjoys designation as a Foreign Trade Zone (#80-10). With the corresponding increase in demand for electrical power CPS Energy (CPSE) began the construction of the 36th St. (Growden Rd.) Substation. The substation covers almost five acres, and is located between Growdon Rd. and West Thompson Pl. The Project replaces the Kelly Substation #3 (see map below), and will connect to the existing high-voltage transmission lines via new transmission lines between 35th St. and the substation. The Project will also include related distribution lines to connect customers to the new substation. In May 2012, CPSE tasked Dorazio Enterprises, INC. (DEI) to complete all the civil sitework to meet a June 2013 commissioning.
